The Martingale Strategy is a bastardization of its creator John Henry Martingale, a British casino owner in the 1800s.

A brilliant businessman, Mr. Martingale began whispering to his high rolling customers that he had a brilliant and guaranteed way to win games such as roulette and blackjack.

And the logic (even if it came from a casino owner, which to most people would have been conflicting and counterproductive) seemed to make sense. Under the Martingale strategy Blackjack, every time a punter losses a bet, they would simply double down on their bet. Eventually, goes the theory, they would win.

Unfortunately, Martingale knew or should have known as a casino owner, that tremendous statistical streaks play a big part in a bettor’s blackjack betting strategy.

Recently, for example, in a Reddit post, a gambler revealed he had lost 22 hands in a row. That’s unusual, but it does happen and reveals the fallacy of the Martingale System. Following this blackjack strategy, if the player was playing at a $10 blackjack table in Las Vegas using the Martingale system, after merely 8 losses, the player would be betting $1280 on their next hand.

And well before the player reached 22 losses, he would be betting nearly $1 million a hand.

In short, if you have nearly infinite riches like Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos, and you get the casino to wave all table stakes, then yes, you will win with the Martingale blackjack system. Otherwise, you will generally lose your bankroll quickly with the same blackjack system.

We assume you are not a mega-millionaire and just want a blackjack betting strategy that works. So the question becomes, is there such a system.

A few years ago, a mathematician, RI Chang had the same question in mind. And using a blackjack simulator, he devised what he claimed was the Best Blackjack strategy in the Golden Eagle and Silver Tiger betting strategies.

No, Mr. Chang didn’t claim he would make you a millionaire at the blackjack tables, but he did claim that the Golden Eagle and Silver Tiger system were the best blackjack strategy because you can consistently win small amounts of money, perhaps $125 to $150 an hour playing his system.
